Lolita Blog Carnival is a group of online lolitas who get together and decide on a different topic to blog about each week. Then on Fridays we each post on our separate blogs and link to everyone else's posts about the same topic. I think it's neat because you get to know the different points of view and ideas of everyone in the group. So if you're a lolita with a blog, and you would like to get more ideas on what to write about, go join Lolita Blog Carnival on Facebook!

This week's LBC theme is something I've been wanting to do for a while now. A wardrobe post!

My lolita wardrobe isn't that big, mainly because I make all of my dresses and some of my accessories, and thrift or buy off brand everything else. To me, making my own clothes and hunting for rare pieces at thrift shops or consignment stores is what makes lolita fashion fun and exciting.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to own brand, and I'm sure I could afford it every now and then or buy BodyLine, but I'm too frugal. My problem is, I'll always think "oh I can make that for a very small fraction of the price" and I won't pay for something that I can make myself and customize it to my own measurements. lol

This is my closet

I hang all of my bags on the outside of the doors, but I don't keep my lolita stuff in there. It is filled with all my "normal" clothes (some of them aren't very normal-looking, but they're considered mainstream), but this is a Lolita Blog Carnival post, so I'll share a peek into the "normal-looking" side of me some other time.

At first I was keeping my lolita clothing in there along with everything else, but my collection keeps growing as I make or bring in new pieces, so it got to the point where it was taking up 1/3 of the space in my closet and it was very crammed and difficult to find the clothes that I needed.

So I moved it to a sturdy clothing rack (IKEA Riga clothing rack, about $12. I highly recommend it!) and now my beautiful collection is out on display for everyone to appreciate. Best part is, there's nothing like waking up to the sight of beautiful clothes fist thing in the morning!

On the bottom, I keep the shoes that I commonly use with lolita. I have more shoes, but they stay inside the closet. The only "real" Lolita shoes I own are my pink rocking horse shoes. I've never really liked tea parties, even though I tend to go for sweeter rather than classical styles, so the shoes I wear with lolita are more on the simple side.

Dresses:

I just realized I don't own any OPs. I prefer JSKs because they are more versatile when it comes to coordinating, but maybe I should try my hand at a long sleeve OP sometime in the future.

Skirts:

I forgot to include that black skirt on the dress form.

Blouses:

Most of these are thrifted and some are off brand. I've never had the patience for making my own blouses. lol

This is the only "cutsew" I own. I have a lot of geeky/nerdy t-shirts that I wear with casual lolita most of the time.

Cardigans:

Again, all thrifted or off brand.

In these drawers I keep accessories and wigs.

Ignore the basket of candies there. That's another story. lol

Jewelry:

I keep all of my jewelry in the bathroom. I find it easier to organize and choose when I'm getting ready. Most of it is off brand, but sometimes I'll make it myself too.

Socks/tights are in the bathroom closet. I don't have any special organization for them. They're just thrown inside a drawer. Maybe I should get some sock organizers some time.

So that's all the lolita items I've accumulated in the past 2 years or so. If I keep sewing, I'll have to get another clothing rack eventually. lol
